Structure: CAF Community Advisory Councils

[CAF BELGIUM] [CAF Community Advisory Council]
[Brussels CAF Team]] [CAF Members] [CAF INDIA] [CAF CONGO]

CAF creates Community Advisory Councils (CAC) in the countries where it works. These councils serve three main purposes:

  • giving local community members and opportunity to learn about how CAF can help meet their children's needs;
  • providing an ongoing, structured mechanism for local community members to help prioritise and improve the effectiveness of CAF projects; and
  • offering a structured forum for local community members themselves to develop a collective understanding of their own child health and welfare priorities, objectives and goals.

CAF believes that effective child health and education programs result form clear communication between local community members and CAF representatives in Belgium. By supporting community participation in project priorities, development, implementation and improvement, CAF assures the responsiveness of its projects to the needs of the local community and facilitates the emergence of a coherent community vision for improving child health and welfare.

The Community Advisory Councils review and recommend improvements to CAF projects, policies and procedures. They include a select group of individuals who represent diverse perspectives and can make a commitment to participate regularly. Local CAC meetings are open to the public; interested community members may participate without receiving an invitation.

For the moment, two Community Advisory councils have been set: one in India and one in Congo.
