Blanket Distribution to poor Dalit Children hit by cyclone in November 2000
On 29 November 2000, a very severe cyclone hit the coast of Tamil Nadu, more specifically the areas around Cuddalore and Pondicherry, taking the lives of 11 people including a child, uprooting thousands and thousands of trees, destroying poor people’s huts, killing cattle and washing away vessels, leaving practically nothing in its wake.
In response to this disastrous event, CAF initiated an emergency collection to distribute blankets to poor children affected by the cyclone in need of something to keep them warm. A total amount of 371 Euro (15,000 BEF) was collected within a few days and immediately transferred to India.
